Is this the perfect water? We think so!

Water by Nature is delivered to you, sourced fresh from a deep artesian aquifer on our farm surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Waiwera Valley. Our water has been laboratory tested as being naturally filtered and isolated for over 10,000 years, well before man-made pollutants could contaminate the rain and soil, thus providing peace of mind about the water you and your family use for drinking and bathing. The water in the Waiwera region was considered to provide such health benefits that the local Maori named it “Te Rata” which translates as “The Doctor”.

The journey our water has taken has filtered out impurities and balanced minerals so perfectly that it meets NZ Drinking Water Standards without the need for treatment. Nearly all other water sources delivered to you will have required some form of treatment to remove poisonous metals and/or add chemicals before being approved by New Zealand’s Ministry of Health.

The beauty of having the perfect mineral composition is that it is also naturally “soft” and absent of harsher minerals (these harsher minerals can be seen by the build-up of 'scale' on taps and kettles, or felt in the dryness of skin and hair). This means our water is literally better for your appearance, making your hair and skin feel softer and reducing the use of soap and detergents.

It has a naturally occurring pH of 9.4 making it the perfect alkalinity to combat the often acidic modern diets that create inflammation. Studies have shown that drinking alkaline water regularly has a positive effect in reducing acid reflux and many advocate that moving to an alkaline diet improves oxygen uptake in the blood thus improving bodily function and repair systems. You can purchase alkaline water in the health aisle at any supermarket but why pay more for healthy water when it’s available in larger quantity directly from the source?

About us

Water by Nature is owned by Waiwera Valley locals, Rob Knight and Elaine Jones. They purchased the 25 acre property, located just a few kilometres inland from Waiwera, in 2015 after the infamous Russian Mikhail Khimich, of Waiwera Water & Hotpools fame, was forced to sell following a failed application to build an industrial bottling plant on the land. The 188m deep production bore, initially set up to supply the bottling for export, has been the extraordinary source for the Water by Nature deliveries since the business began in 2020.

Rob is a sports and performance physiotherapist and is currently working with the NZ Breakers basketball team. He’s also a health guru who loves coming up with new ideas for… well, virtually anything! He looks after (and loves) the Water by Nature artesian supply. Elaine runs the 25-acre property, breeding purebred Wiltshire sheep and training horses, while also managing the operational side of Water by Nature. Both Rob and Elaine are passionate about the property’s 10,000 year old water source and the health benefits of the naturally mineralised alkaline water it produces. They are proud to be the custodians during their tenure on the property.

Rob and Elaine deliver the water (often together) in the distinctive Water By Nature truck with its lightweight food-grade polyethylene tanker, and unique tipping function to ensure you receive all of the volume advertised. The light blue colour ensures the water stays cool during transport and the smaller Hino truck allows for manoeuvring around tighter areas that might be more challenging for larger tankers.

The Water by Nature tanker carries 8,200 litres, but advertise as 8,100 litres, providing assurance of the minimum you’ll receive of the best water around!

Rob and Elaine strongly recommend you only add natural water into rural tanks. Chemicals such as chlorine are known to react with the unavoidable organic compounds that exist in roof supplied tanks, altering the taste and creating undesirable by-products.
